Thread: Hello from Alabama!

    Default Hello from Alabama!

    Greetings all.

I'm 38 yrs. old, father of three boys and married.

I'm an avid fisherman, but I have never been camping. I hope to remedy this situation in the near future. I also have a deep interest into planning, and preparing ourselves in case any emergency that should come our way...All that being said, i'm a novice.

I have read a number of threads on many different topics, and I believe I have found the site I'm looking for. You people know your stuff, and a mighty "thank you", for sharing your knowledge and expertise for newbies like me. I'm just wanting to educate myself, practice it, and then pass that along to my boys while having fun doing it.

....So if I ask some really dumb questions, be easy on me.

Thanks again, and I look forward to meeting you all soon.

You're in a nice state for camping. They call the Bankhead National Forest "Birmingham's Backyard". You should try it out. Also, the Alatrails website is great for scoping out camping and hiking areas and conditions in Alabama.

My husband and I are new here too, and live in Alabama. I don't think you will be the only one asking stupid questions, I'll do my share I am sure. But like you I think we have found a great place to get good info, and am looking forward to the interactions and meeting some cool people.
