    Default Here's my "damp cabin".

A damp cabin is different from such as my previous cabin which was a dry cabin. My current cabin has hot and cold running water to the sink and shower but still has an outhouse. I had my housewarming party today and took a quick video to show you before everyone showed up. I'm still not quite done with it but hey, I have two years to get settled in.

    Nice!

I would have thought you would put the water tank on the second floor and gravity feed it.

    Nice Digs.
I had a compass, but without a map, it's just a cool toy to show you where oceans and ice are.

Since a large percent of our population lives in waterless cabins, we have bulk water stations, like gas stations. So, just pull up to the pump, drop the tail gate, put in a quarter, and fill my 5 gallon water jugs. Water is 2 cents a gallon.

*I* don't want to pack water up even more steps lol. Besides this is just a rental in which I will be able to save up enough for my own little cabin in the woods.

Those masks my kids made in school at different times. I didn't know what to do with them so they went to decorate the outhouse of our first dry cabin. They seemed to work in there so they were moved to the same spot in this new place.

I actually do not have any dutch ovens right now. I'm pretty picky about my cast iron AND I wont buy them from a store lol. I know, weird, but I like them to have a story. Plus, one type of cast iron is not like another.

That's funny because our outhouse was actually built in order to empty a porta potty in, ie, big hole. Since we have the little shower room, I'll put on in there once it gets too cold. But until then, I went ahead and put the blue foam board on with my custom cut hole, just so I didn't feel like I was going to fall in the dang thing. No one wants to feel like they are going to fall into a 2 story outhouse!

    .
We have a couple buildings that have no water source going in that we keep elevated 275gal tanks feeding them.

To fill them....we use 55 gal drums in the back of a truck....and Shur-Flo 12v Pumps. It's the type of pump that you'd find in an RV. They can dump a 50+drum in about 5-6 minutes.

it's easier than moving around those Aquatainers....

Yea, I'll have a similar system once I buy my own cabin. But for now, this is good. Besides, what have I been feeding this big ol' boy for if not to pack my water lol.

years ago at my cabin I had running water. Basically grab a bucket and run and get it. Nothing like spring water.

Certainly doesn't put a spring in your step.

That's a really nice set up 1st. I particularly like the little balcony from the 2nd fl. bedroom. and I love the view from the kitchen window.
A question about the outhouse: could you cut a slightly larger opening and use a regular toilet seat? (screwerd to the base)
