Last night I largely completed my SHTF gun battery when I won a DPMS AR 15 flat top black rifle at a Ducks Unlimited event! I already have a scope waiting to be installed from another gun deal. I went out this morning and bought 500 rounds of ammo and three 30 round magazines, and installed a CT laser sight in it. Now as funds allow, I will build up my ammo stock and acquire more magazines.
Now I am just waiting for my dealer to find me the tactical shotgun I want and I will be pretty well set, gun wise. If I kick off, that leaves my DD and SIL well prepared as well!

Until I am experiencing "Code Red" I only fill my magazines halfway. Also suggest you mark your magazines "A" "B" "C" etc. with a magic marker. Then if you experience a failure to feed you can rebuild or cull that magazine. And congratulations.
