    Default taiga trappers life style

here's a video I came across about trappers in the siberian tiaga. Not sure if it really falls into primitive but not really modern either interesting nevertheless.

Here's a good read that covers life in the Taiga.

    randyt,

I did click on your link and watched it. Worth the hour and a half.

I liked what he said about the skis. "You could buy those factory made skis. You and I go into the wood and you'll drop dead from fatigue after 15km. Me i just keep on skiing without a care in the world."

I kinda found it interesting what he said about raising cattle and not being able to kill them. He explains his philosophy very well I thought. It is between 1:11:30 and 1:13. "We are all killers or accomplices..."

I have had conversations with some real dimwits who thought I was kill for killing Bambi. But, they eat all manner of captive raised meat.

"Yeah, but I didn't kill it." they say. Yes, you did as surely as if you had pressed the trigger yourself.

Really good show, thanks for telling me about this!

Well, so much for "strict Russian gun control"!

That guy has nearly as much junk as Hunter!

    I saw a .22, a 12 ga double 0/U, an M44 and an SKS.
If you didn't bring jerky what did I just eat?

Yeah, but in Russia you buy directly from the military.

I found it very interesting. In regards to the firearms the folks at piterhunt seem to mostly use over and under shotguns and combo guns. I was surprised to see the sks in the video. The guy using his 22 to fish with reminded me of the swamp people show on tv.

I noticed that all the firearms sported a sling.

That's different from here, where my purchase is authorized after a background check by the state?

    Ever bought through CMP?

Seems like 6 of one and 1/2 dozen of the other.
