    Smile Hey Everyone!

I am not really good at introductions, but here it goes. I have always had a mild interest in self sufficiency I suppose it was ingrained in me subconsciously being raised by parents who at one point in their life or the other understood what it was to go without. I remember having a cold room and upright freezers growing up and always having them and our pantry fully stocked at all times. We usually had some way to bug out if SHTF, like an RV, camper, or cabin cruiser even though I never realized it for what it was until my teenage years. We actually lived very close to the bone, and so camping was a big recreation activity for us. I loved it. Then I grew up went to work and got away from it all. Well I guess "my hormones are settling in at around 30 years of age" cause I have been thinking about the whole self sufficiency thing more and more over the last few months. It is something that I had never really avoided, some of it I practice just as a normal way of life, but for now it is my hobby again! Can't wait to exchange ideas with other likeminded folks!!!

Welcome to WSF. An intro that includes goals is great. Where in NC are ya, the whole state is great for bush work.
I had a compass, but without a map, it's just a cool toy to show you where oceans and ice are.

Welcome to the forum and thankyou for the intro. Wife and I do what we can here as far as being self sufficient. We still have an electric bill but spend alot of time in the garden, on the lakes and river and hunting in season meat. As far as we see it,it's a great way to live.

Just off of Fort Bragg. My husband just retired from the Army and is now going to school for a complete career change so we are in the area for a few more years until he completes his degree.
