Thread: The Days Trip

    Default The Days Trip

I had to work today and so after I got off work I went to the woods that I grew up going into. I'll try and post a couple of photos. Until the forum gives me fits. LOL

Here is a pick of a raccoon who was busy foraging the last few ficus figs of the season.

A Brown Basilisk in a tree. I heard him move and was surprised to see him in the tree. You hear these lizards more than you see them cause they are usually gone!

Nicknamed the Jesus Christ Lizard, these lizards can run across water on thier hind legs. So you often hear them run across leaf litter and then water.

Florida Banded water Snake. He moved quick and I had the lens set on manual focus...

All in one day? Love the second picture of the raccoon! And the berries look really neat.

Yeah, I took about 200 photos in about 2hrs. But, most are just for me trying to learn the plants I don't know. Every time I moved the raccoon moved. I had the lens on manual and I guess I just suck as a wildlife photo guy. LOL

Thanks for the pics. Looks like you had a great day. I had to look up the Beauty Berry. I've never heard of it before. Says you can use it as a skeeter repellent and wine. I guess the skeeters don't know what they are missing.

Great pics. It's always kind of a treat to come across American Beauty Berries. Kind of looks like somebody said....this area needs some color!

They have no/ to a slightly bitter flavor. The are not palatable I guess would be the word.I have heard you can make a wine or preserve from them. But, I have never tried that. American Beauty Berry is every where down here. Though most of the fruit was still green in this forest yesterday.

Thanks for sharing. I like the first raccoon picture. He's so cute peeking out of the brush.

More great pics. We've got firebush growing all over our back yard. The hummers and bees love it.
