    Default Wildlife rehab

When doing research for an article, I stumbled across this truly amazing and wonderful wildlife rehab centre in BC: www.wildlifeshelter.com
They've been in operation for over 20 years and take in injured and orphaned wildlife. Almost all animals are being rehabilitated back out into the wild. Apart from deer, moose and smaller mammals, they take in a lot of orphened bear cubs. A pilot project is underway with rehabbing grizzly cubs. So far, in over 20 years of operation, none of their bears has become a "problem bear".

They have a number of short video clips really worthwhile watching - check this out:

-A young black bear who came in in rough shape, healed up and was released the next year: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-Iy5...hannel&list=UL

-These cubs were approx. 2 weeks old when they arrived at the shelter:

-Here's what they sound like with a belly full of milk:

-And now that they're a few months older (turn on the sound!!):

    -The grizzly bear project:

-And other animals they look after:

The sound that little Yogi and Booboo were making reminded me of an old typewriter.

    Pretty cool stuff.

And it's good to know what feeding baby bears sound like, I think - now I won't be tempted to investigate more closely when I hear an old typewriter in the woods.

Didn't take them long to type out that letter or figure out what a bottle was for. Pretty cool stuff.

Yeah, I wonder when they stop bottle-feeding them - any bigger, and the caretaker better put on a teflon shirt
Anyway, I so admire the people who run it for doing this work. Another good reason to get rich - apart from getting a skinning knife custom made by Dwayne Oliver, I could sponsor a bunch of these critters.
