Another good video. I don't know what the carabiner you have is rated at in terms of weight. True carabiners are pretty expensive and can hit the $30 or $40 range depending on what you get. If you go to Ace Hardware or any hardware store you can pick up quick links for safety chains that are nothing more than screw to close carabiners. They are rated at 3000 lbs. to 10,000 lbs depending on size, are made of stainless steel and cost $5 or $6 bucks. You can find them in the chain section. I've purchased a bunch of them and have a couple on each of my packs. Nice job!!

I believe you may be right. It's been a few years since this old salt was in the Navy. Old habbits I guess. LoL

    Good stuff.

One thing I never see on anyone's EDC is a set of nail clippers. That was about the first thing a put on mine. Handy for nails and cutting small strings or wires.

Nater - you're right. I don't have a set on mine but do carry a set for fly fishing. They are great to clip the excess tippet after you change flies.

Good point, Rick. I do, however, spend the money for a few caribiners to support my full body weight in a rappel or transit.

As would I since that's what they are tested for. But I can make a pulley using two quick links and some paracord if I need to lift something heavy, can slide a pack across a swift creek or crevasse using the same gear if several of us are out, hang gear off my pack if it doesn't have an ALICE or MOLLE connector or you can use them to tighten up a rope on your hammock, tarp or tent without untying the rope.
