    Default Teaching the man child.

Putting heating fuel in the tank. When I do it, I have to hang off the spout by one hand. It's nice that he is getting so tall. He's only 13.

A couple of weeks ago my head light went out. I changed it, took me all of 10 minutes. A few days later, the other one went out. Go figure. So thought I should show Jordan how to do it. One of my saddest thoughts about his dad's passing was that he wouldn't be around to teach Jordan how to work on cars and how to build stuff. He was a carpenter.

It looks like he's doing just fine. I think he has a pretty good teacher.

I think that, perhaps, this is the most important thing we can ever do. Congrats on a job well-done.

From a poem I wrote to my father, shortly after his sudden and untimely demise at the age of 66:

So Dad, you take your well-earned rest
And see how well you've done,
    Everything you taught to me,
    I'm teaching to MY son.

That you are "filling in" for your own son makes it even more important, and memorable.

Thank you all. Sometimes it does get a bit intimidating. Nighteyes, thank you for sharing your poem with me. That's a really nice one.

Edited to add a bit more. I came from a family of 5 girls. I KNOW how to raise my daughter. My son however, is a real challenge anyways. Oh yea, he has his first girlfriend. She's a bit irritating but at least he is willing to shower occasionally now lol.

Nothing like a little, or a lot, of motivation. LOL
