How come you cut down the blade?

    Sounds fun.

This is crude but in the corp we did it and it makes a butt load of sense if you take it with the intention I'm Sharing it with.

Make a will, give someone you trust power of attorney in case things go awry. Don't leave family and friends without a back up.

Then get out there and take pics and keep a diary, when you get done, share here, I'll be watching.

Oh, and have fun out there.

ETA: I think I get it, you want to see what it was like when there wasn't a map and a fellow just set off and saw what was over the mtn. Love that kind of adventure myself. The above is just worst case backup plans. Sounds like you have your ducks in a row. -- Thad

Sparky i had a good think, about what i would use that knife for. I didn't want to stab anything including myself, miles from nowhere.

If it works for you, it works for me. I like to have the point though for skinning animals and more detailed wood craft....

    P.S. Beautiful pics!

My daughter took a pic of me, with her i pod. This is all my gear less water bottle & small shoulder bag. I can't take pics of myself, out the bush. So i thought i would post this one, to give you guys a idea of what, i am carrying, and how i am carrying it. I put just about everything in my swag, then roll it up.

Peter, doesn't Austrailia have a lot of poisenous snakes? Be real careful and do not get bitten out in the wilderness because with some of those critters, you probably would not walk out on the other side! I dont know if the area you are going through have the poisenous types, but if so, be really careful!

Gday Wildthang Where i am going, it's full of snakes. First thing i do, when i get in the bush, is cut myself a 61/2 foot long walking stick. I was walking near a river one day, stuck my stick about a foot and a half in front of me, and a brown snake hit it {it only has to save you one time, to be worth it}. Another reason for going, when i am. Is spring early summer is when OZ snakes get out & about, and do their snake thing. Winter they should be less active. Cheers Peter
