    Default Talkabout....Radios

Going thru my gear for turkey hunting, and in checking batteries in the walkie-talkies, seems that the FM feature in my Motorola T6310 no longer works.
    http://www.wirelesspro.com/t6310nimh.html

Not real sure they make them any more.

I guess I wasn't ready to see the price of them now, I have had this one for a long time.....
Called customer service...Lady there actually had one of the t6130's there, and we went thru the setting and such, and determined "it's broke"

So looking for a walkie talkie, that has scan, weather, and FM radio functions as well as the channels and codes?

I don't know if I have an answer or not. All I'm likely to do is confuse you, and me. But, can you tell me how much that radio weighs?

I'll have to grab one of mine that fits the specs you gave when I get home and commence with the confusion.

I just weighed it ...6.8 oz with batteries.
What I liked about this one....
standard channels and codes works with other radios.
    Has:
    scan
    weather plus alerts setting
FM and FM stereo, station scan, and pre-sets
    ear buds
works on regular AA batteries, doesn't need a charger or high buck batteries.

Looked at Midland and Crobra brands, couldn't find any Motorola's at the main store I go to....
Seems to be a big deal about range, but no FM fuction

I"ve got the Midland GXT-450 with the rechargeable battery packs. I don't have any complaints with them. About 7 ounces with battery pack. Here's a linky to them.

The really weird thing is I picked up a couple of kids Audiovox walkies at a garage sale. Thought it would be fun for the grand kids. Turns out they are really good radios. I think I gave $3 or something like that for them. Anyway, line of site is going to be the determiner on your distance. But you know that.

The Midway you have has been discontinued Rick.....I don't have weather or FM but my Cobra's work well....

Everything work on the Motorola, and i do have several of them, so that's not the issue....
I guess I'll just invest in a small AM/FM for my pocket........It was just convenient to have them all in one.

The only thing I have that would satisfy your specs is a Midland GMRS Base.

    http://www.nextag.com/Midland-XT511-...55/prices-html

Much cheaper than the radio you have, and much more power. But, you need a license on the high power channels and it weighs 1lb 7oz stripped. I honestly thought it was lighter than that.

The rest of my handhelds do not have FM, are FRS/GMRS, have Wx, and run about 6oz.

    Edit:

I had trouble getting pics off my phone from last night. I said the base was stripped, I took off the shoulder strap and external mic. It does have the AA batteries in it.

Hunter they make lots of the miniature radios that are a lot smaller than a pack of cigarettes, and have ear buds. They are really cheap and very compact. You may want to look at those!

Well in the winter when you are just laying around the cabin, you might enjoy listening to the shortwave frequency's. Plus it has a speaker if you dont want to wear ear buds or headphones.
Hope it works for ya Bwudda!
