    Default Where There's A Will There's A Way

My workshop is very small and cluttered. Some days I have to go outside to change my mind because it is so crowded in there. Well, I had the opportunity to pick up another grinder this week. Full sized grinders aren't something that you want to move around a lot - like I do with much of my equipment (plywood and sawhorses outside the shop). So I cleared out an area that was doing nothing but storing lumber, pvc, and other essential odds and ends that haven't been used in quite some time (but I know I'll need them soon). Anyway - I haven't used it yet, but am looking forward to testing it. It's got an 8" contact wheel, 8" soft contact wheel, flat platen that adjusts so the small contact wheel can be used, and a tool rest. Woo Hoo!

It just shows you that Santa Claus works year 'round. Nice tool. I'll bet you don't get that compliment often.

Very nice, but is difficult to "hide" from the boss unless you have more space

I still have it. For the time being at least - we're a two grinder family.

Crash, you need one of those old peddle grinding wheels. Then you would get some excersize when you make all of those knives! Honestly, those old grinders have a lot of appeal, and look good sitting out under a shade tree!

I know just what you mean. It's been getting cluttered here and I didn't know what to do but then I remembered that we've got this one room with nothing but a bed and dressers and such just taking up valuable real estate. I'm sure the boss will understand.

Here are some more pics of it.

8" soft wheel. The original wheel was milled to remove 1/2" of material so that when the felt was added it would be the same size as the other contact wheel.

Nice grinder. Looks like a build from the "kinda kmg" plans I've seen. Quality build too.
I had a compass, but without a map, it's just a cool toy to show you where oceans and ice are.

The "frame" was a kit that the guy who built it picked up from Polar Bear Forge. http://www.polarbearforge.com/grinder_kit.html Sort of a KMG clone just like the No Weld Grinder plans that are out there.

So, does the griz know you are cheatin' on her with this skinny young thing? Or, maybe you three have "that" type of relationship.
