...to being part of this forum. I am a former Marine and Green Beret, presently a firefighter and knife maker who specializes in making tools for outdoorsmen.

    Well, look who's here. Welcome.
I had a compass, but without a map, it's just a cool toy to show you where oceans and ice are.

Welcome to the forum Bush Monkey, I'm very new to this forum as well, but I find it to have lots of good info and a pleasant format and thoughtful staff.
How long have you been a knife maker/outdoor tool maker?

    N Horseman,

Thank you. Made my first one out of a file somewhere around 1972. Got semi-serious about making knives about a year ago - don't like taking anything too serious. lol

I agree 100%. Funny thing, seems like all Jarheads turn to blademakers. Almost all of them that I know about are anyway. What was your MOS? 0341 here.

Started out at Pensecola as a SNA (student Naval aviator), Corpus Christie C-130 pipeline and the pipeline slowed to a trickle - I ended up at a 1302 - Combat Engineer Officer. I competed on the Military Pentathlon team for 6 years as a USMC Reservist - basically a full time job.
