    Default Todays wild edible class.

Had an awesome day today. Learned how to ID a handful of edible plants and got to try a lot. Bought the instructors book and had it signed by him. Very knowledgeable guy and I can't wait to pick his brain in the future.

I am glad you had a great time. Learning is it's own reward and knowledge something no one can take from you.

Thanks, these aren't even all of them. I wanted to make sure to thoroughly photograph them so I could compare them to all my field notes, and learn every part as much as possible for further identification. It was a blast. I can't wait for his mycology classes, i've been looking for those forever!

If you can take the time to draw the plants you get a pretty thorough education on them. You don't have to be a good artist just draw in as much detail as you can. By taking the time to draw a plant you really concentrate on its structure so you retain the information. Take one and try it. I'll bet you know that plant by the time you are done.

That's a great idea, thanks rick! I was trying to trace it in my mind while looking at it why didn't I think of actually drawing it a couple times.

I'm also very happy I found a place that will test a few samples of water/plants for a bit of a fee. Life is sure looking up lol... I'll get to find out if the delta water its' self is full of mercury or just fish that accumulate it. Think ill do a sample from a solar still, boiled river water, and raw river water and compare. Along with a few mallow samples, again going from best spot to worst spot available to compare. Wish it wasn't so expensive to get it tested though...

keep in mind certain plants absorb more toxins than others. Examples like chives and ramps are currently being researched for cleaning up hazardous waste sites because they soak up many toxins in the soil.

Yeah that's why i'm doing both and not just one. If the soil and water is fine and the plant is fine it should be ok.
