    Default Eating snails

I just tried some escargots I got from the store and it got me thinking about other snails. This is what I found.

Does anyone have experience with this? Does everyone agree all land snails are edible provided you purge them for a few days and cook thoroughly?
How many days would you say is safe to purge? Do you trust these sources that purging gets rid of chemicals and mushroom toxins?

Little seaside snails are yummy. I don't bother purging them.
I had a compass, but without a map, it's just a cool toy to show you where oceans and ice are.

I'm not too concerned with ocean dwelling snails. Too many possibilities of poisonous ones. First want to get comfortable with land dwelling.

Brown snails are no different the snails you get in a restaurant.
    I know what hunts you.

You gotta know which ones are good to eat. Small, drab colored ones with camouflage shells don't need poison because they are not attracting attention. This is true for most things.

I've eaten plenty of sea snail, but no land snails. As far as trusting sources.......I have taken a wild edible class from the guy in your second link. IMO he provides accurate information.

Yes, brown snails are good to eat.

First let them 2 or 3 days without food.

Then "wash" them with salt, to quit the slime.

    Then rince them in water.

You can cook them in boiling water, quit the shell, and fry them with butter, sal and garlic... I love them.
