I have two pups, older pups now. The Rotty use to run the woods with me and chase hogs and other large critters but now she has a bum leg.
The second mutt is the one I would take if I was going into the woods for any length of time. He his half boxer and half daschound. Meanest little (big) sob you've ever met. Think of a weener dog with boxer legs but still having the weener dog attitude. MEAN!
Does not eat much, great watchdog, barks loud and on command shuts up, thinks he can kick butt, yet knows when to back off. Excellant squirrel and rabbit locater.
Had the perfect dog years ago. She was a blue chow, best deer tracker and locater ever, listened perfectly kinda read my mind. Trust, on an outing she cut her leg pretty bad, so I washed out with soap and water, dried, super glued the wound shut and then sewed it up with a needle and deer back sinew. Had to use a reg. needle and pliers, no suters. She just let me do it, no hassles or biting. Kept her on lead alot as she had a tendency to scare people. She onetime ate through a set of aluminum bars and scared her mouth right above her canines. To look at her, looked like she had 3" canines.
What kind of survival mutts do ya'll have?
I prefer the med. to larger small mutts.
