    Default Fiddle lessons...update.

This is what I'm working on right now. Of course, I think I need a swig of corn likker before being able to play it well. That and lots and lots more practice, maybe a back up banjo.

This is what I want to learn, sometime this winter!

I think I can feel how it would be to play it on a tundra covered mountain top.

That would be great fun! Unfortunately I don't see any circumstances that might bring me to Indiana. Even going to the lower 48 to visit family wouldn't bring me there. If you ever get up to Alaska, bring your guitar lol.

There is something intriguing and relaxing imagining violin music with the Northern Lights as a back drop.

Ohhh now there's an idea. I'll try to have something ready by next fall. I don't think my camera will take good video though because of the settings one must use to photograph the northern lights. I don't know if I can film using those settings. I'll check it out though. Thanks for the idea.

You could do a youtube vid of still shots with your music on top for a sound track.

There is an old French Canadian legend about a fiddle player who cold make the lights dance. Here is a recent book that tells that story.

    It's a beautiful sound.
Nothing like it to awaken your roots even if you didn't know you had any. When you hear it you get it.

Oh cool. I'll go look. Yes there is a story here that some can whistle the lights to them.

Thanks. Yes I love the music. Of course, it will sound a bit different without the full symphony back up but should still work for me.

Someone gave me a brand new mandolin since the fingering is similar to violin. I'm getting this under my belt first before trying to tackle that monster!

I'm looking forward to some music posted from both instruments. Once you get them down you could do a composite video of you accompanying yourself. That would be cool, too.

Funny, that when I was posting the last post, before the football game....the neighbor across the street was playing his bag pipes, is in a piper marching band, songs and sound, very similar to a dulcimer, with the drone strings and all....love a fiddle,... and blue grass.

The fiddle is in the blood around here. This is some traditional music. Buddy McMaster and his niece Natalie.
