    Default Snake Skin Bow Backings

Does anyone know how to prepare snake skins? Do you have to tan it like other animal skins or do you just peel it of and stretch it out?

I skinned a snake that I gigged while frog gigging one time, after I skinned it I put some powder a taxidermist gave my dad on the skin. Not sure what the powder is called but it is supposed to keep it from rotting. There is probably a better way, but I thought it turned out pretty nice.

Thanks, that's pretty helpful. I'm going to descale it, soak it in warm water and apply to the back with titebond(maybe I'll get something that dries clear). That should come out looking pretty sharp.
