    Default another improvised ammo carrier...

This is a cheap but I think good carrier for loose ammo. I've used a 8.5 oz water bottle to hold 200 rounds of .22 LR. it weighs 1.8 lbs., water resistant and I like the way the ammo shakes out. [URL="http://Guests can not see images in the messages. Please register in the forum.[/URL]

How loud is it to carry around?
I had a compass, but without a map, it's just a cool toy to show you where oceans and ice are.

He is asking how much noise the shells make when they rattle around in that plastic bottle.
If you didn't bring jerky what did I just eat?

Let me stop moving so that I can hear what you are saying. These dang shells in a plastic container make a lot of noise.

Just don't mistake it for your bottle of water!

Just think of it as a different type of bear bell.

22lr is hard to carry unless you have a 10-22 with extended mags.
    .
I bought extra 10 rouders for my 10-22 and the mags fit in a speedloader pouch. Works ok.

Remember the old belt change machines? Gives coins out of a belt mounted thingamagig?

    That's what a .22 needs.

    Great idea!

What about something like this? 50 rounds an only 10 bucks.

Rebel - I received a few bean shooters (sling shots) from a friend. He also sent some lead ball for it. The lead ball was in a plastic tube that had a very thin foam layer inserted. No rattling at all. I wonder if you could take some thin packing foam, roll it, insert it in the bottle, let it unroll, then dump the ammo in. I guess I feel an experiment coming on.

Even foam wrapped around the outside would absorb some sound.

I played paintball back in the late 80's when you had to load a ten round tube of paintballs. Well someone figured out you could cut the bottom of an oil bottle off. Tape the mouth of the bottle over the feed elbow and it would carry 50 rounds. But it rattled loudly. We duck taped foam around it and used a piece of foam and duck tape to act as a hinged cover for reloading.

Its baffling how much quieter it made it.

You're really transmitting sound waves from the side of the bottle that get converted to "sound" by your ears. If you are able to absorb the sound waves, inside or outside of the container, then it will have to be quieter.

Dang it! How did I miss that? I've even had my coffee. I swear I'm getting old. Thanks for the test, though.
