Talking A place to go and learn

    Hi All .....

For those of you who are interested .... There is a group called AHEIA and they are the Alberta Hunter Education Instructors Association.

They now run the hunter education program for the province of Alberta and have been doing it for 20 plus years .... yep it’s geared toward hunting but if you want to get a real survival course they offer it. AND.....since they are a non-profit registered charity ALL the courses and programs they offer are by donation. They'd like to get 25 bucks to cover the cost of materials but you give what you can.

The basic Hunter Ed course covers 13 sections and lasts about 20 hours of classroom instruction
    demos and lectures:

    - Hunting Ethics
    - Role of the Hunter
    - Wildlife Management
    - Wildlife Identification
    - Equipment
    - Firearms
    - Bow Hunting
    - Field Techniques
    - Survival
    - Hypothermia
    - First Aid
    - Vision and Physical Fitness
    - Legal Responsibilities

So that's it .... ignore the hunting bits and take the rest for a donation. (grin)

Most of the provinces and a few of the US states have based their programs on the AHEIA model because it’s the most successful program in Canada ......

    Cheers'
