    Default Just thought I'd share.

I was out checking my camera settings for when the aurora comes out. It was a moonlit night and my outhouse was looking particularly pretty in its setting of fireweed.

Great picture. With views like that I can understand why some folks up there leave the door off their outhouse.

Bear One: "Oh, look. a theater."
Bear Two: "Forget it, you have to pay or they won't open the door. Come on. There's a free show down the road."

    Great pic.

Looks like the show is about to start. Puppet Theater. Yeah, I love those!

LOL, The one we were using in Colorado, up on Grand Mesa, was sorta a tent cover on a frame work.
Sides were about waist high....so you could shoot out of it if necessary.

In nasty weather just throw it over the top, or when not there, was packed in a 55 gal drum/cover.

Apparently the camp owners had the old "the elk show up when you can't do anything about it" happen more than once........LOL

Okay, I must be missing something here. I'm not built like a howitzer no matter how hard I try I'm not shooting anything anywhere. I won't even comment on throwing it over the top.

The canvas top, the canvas top.....LOL, I guess I left some stuff out.....The outhouse had a roof made out of canvas, and you could either leave it off or put it up, the canvas that is......and you take your RIFLE to the the hooter, as well as your gu....so you can .....oh never mind.

LOL, it took me a couple of reads but I figured out that you didn't mean to decorate the snow.

I pulled my outhouse off the hole in mid or late March, thinking it would motivate me to get the new cabin plumbed to the septic tank which was installed 6 years ago. However I seem to find more fun things to do with my time, like hiking.

So for the last 6 months I have had to practice my squatting skills on two boards over a large hole. Given the poopie ramification of a small slip it becomes a Zen like experience to concentrate on the here and now.

Hahahaha SD. What in the world will you do this winter when the boards get slippery?

One slip will accelerate the plan to have an indoor toilet that is flushed once a day with creek water by November.

Listen, that could have some serious consequences. I remember reading a story a few years ago about a guy that went into the outhouse and the dang thing collapsed dropping him in the poop pit. He was in there for a couple of days before someone found him. At least it would be your own, I suppose and the odd passing moose.
