The weirdest/scariest thing I found while out exploring was back in the 70's while hiking on the island of Kauai. Two Samoan's with M-16's pointed at us. Apparently we were hiking toward their pot field.

Amaranth - Thanks!! I thought a wasp nest would be too fragile to fossilize. Cool. Since this area was a shallow sea at one time that makes a lot more sense.

At one point in time, it actually had glass windows.

Amaranth....any idea what it's purpose was? I love finding things like that and trying to figure out what it is.
My dad told me about a neat oblong rock he found when he was a kid, said it was kind of polished in the middle and chipped away in that spot. My grandparnets used it for a door stop on the front porch till it dissappeared. When we went to an indian museum he realized it was the head of a war club.

It's a spaceship! Honestly...it is!
Local legend says.....a none too stable fellow built this "spaceship" so he could leave Earth. It had a dashboard filled with gauges, knobs, buttons (I remember those) and the like but they have long since been yanked out by people holding parties there.
He did build a second one but it is in his yard. Since I would like to keep my head on my shoulders.....I'll pass on confirmation.
Nowadays....it is a way off the beaten path tourist trap, down gravel roads, across two old swinging (suspension) bridges....out in the middle of nowhere....no signs pointing the way though. Quirky yet fun. : )
How does a concrete.....I mean if the spaceship is made out of........I'm gonna need a helmet.

This is one of my favourite fossils, they’re fresh water bivalves that died a natural death as they are open. I found them 20 ft. up a 60 ft. shale cliff face. Out of all the shale the fossils where only in a layer ¼ in. thick and Mississippian in origin. The cliff face is the shoreline for a saltwater bay.

I found and Orange tree , all by its lonesome out in the prairie of west Oklahoma , the most bizarre thing , nothing grows in the pan handle this tree had rip oranges , there was like a wash near it ,but was dry , there was green vegetation so possible thats how it survived ,but it was bizarre and the fruit was damn good!
