Default Think about who you fly with. Shame on Delta

Delta, an American flag airline greedily charged a group of American Soldiers on their way home from a tour of duty approximately $200 extra for a checkin bag. Their policy did give the soldiers three free checked bags. It should be noted that all American flagged airlines are members of the Civilian Reserve Air Fleet CRAF, and as such recieve a rather significant stipend from the U.S. government to maintain a level of readiness for transporting military members . Subsequent to this incident, they have revised their policy, but only due to a wide spread public outcry. I have scratched them from any future travel plans for me or my company.

I heard that on the news while I was driving today. Not that I fly that often, but I will be very choosy on which carrier I use and will be certain to let them know why they are not getting my business.

IMO, all soldiers who are being deployed overseas should fly free with as much crap as they bring, no questions asked. Thats one bill I would be happy to pay as a taxpayer.

Simple enough...when your wrong your wrong. The soldiers should see recoupment for the charges period. After all they admitted it was wrong.
Keep in mind the problem may be extremely complicated, though the "Fix" is often simple...

It's even worse than that video portrays it. On the news report I listened to, a reporter asked a Delta spokeswoman about the contract with the military and authorization to carry 4 bags. This "well informed" person stated - That 4 bag exception is only when a soldier is flying First Class. I must have missed it in the hundreds of flights I took while on orders in the military - didn't realize I was supposed to be flying First Class.

    What idiots!

The soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines serving this country,,should be fed steak and lobster, fly free and given the utmost respect one can possibly give...The young men and women are protecting the things we enjoy,,a lot of olks have forgotten that

I stole this from somwhere,,,but I think it says it all...

The soldier does not hate the enemy in front of him,
But loves the things behind him..

I stopped flying Delta after they mutilated my suitcase (broken wheel, missing handle, two 4" tears). The customer service lady told me it was wear and tear that they were not responsible for. She then proceeded to put the Be Back Clock on the door and walked away. United Airlines allows 3x bags up to 100lbs for any active duty member anytime.

It will just be written off on a travel voucher.

I was good to see Jay Leno really gave it to Delta last night in his monologue....He was echoing all the above statements.

During much of my time in (most actually) having $200 on me to pay that bill was not likely. While the gov. may reimburse, especially after all of the publicity, it should have never happened.

Another case where one of our country's big businesses show little or no respect for the men and women that are protecting their right to make all that money. When I was in the service I never had the money to fly first class or pay an extra $200 for baggage. Crash is right. It never should have happened.

When I traveled on orders they clearly stated I was allowed 3 bags free. If I chose to bring more I would have to pay. Never needed more than 3 checked bags so I never had to pay. I doubt this is the first time this has happened and I'm sure it isn't just Delta either. I don't agree with what delta did, but the Military is equally to blame.

All my uncles were in the military, active duty in every war we've had up until we decided to go for world domination. None of them ever expected anyone to pay their way. None of them expected anything more than you or me.
