    Default New backpack shelter

Thought some of you might be interested in this idea for a backpack swag/shelter.

I am toying with the idea of buying one to see what it is like since I have a few dollars to spare. If it is really bad I will just resell it on Ebay.

I hate the color but if they make it in better colors it might be useful as an emergency item - well... if you aren't too big that is, especially for the kids. It seems a bit squishy, especially if you have to add a couple of blankets.

I dunno, just have a weather proof sleeping bag and tie it to your backpack... Does the same thing, but probably better.

Here is a video of a swag bag. It is not a term we here in the States are familiar with.

The one you linked to said it was 4.7 kg. That is a little on the heavy side for my tastes. It also didn't give a temperature rating. It isn't too hard to get a tent, sleeping bag, and large framed backpack around the 4 kg range. Although they listed it for backpacking, I think it would be good for car camping.

I wonder how many Aussie homeless can afford a $200.oo sleeping swag bag?
Looks like a nice outfit, but spendy.
Wherefore, let us be thankful that there are still thousands of cool, green nooks beside crystal springs, where the weary soul may hide for a time, away from debts, duns and deviltries, and a while commune with nature in her undress. ~ George W. “Nessmuk” Sears ~

From the website, it looks like either they use some of the proceeds to buy shelters for the homeless, or they let you spend 2X the price and essentially you buy one for the homeless, or both.
