It's great to see you back! Where have you been?

Thanks for the vid! Yeah! What RX said...Where have ya been?
Keep in mind the problem may be extremely complicated, though the "Fix" is often simple...

Glad to see you back. Hope you're settled into your new place.
I'm glad to see ya back too. I made one for pike out of squirrel bones and pine pitch. I tried it ice fishing this season, but when the pike took the minnow it slipped off the hook. I probably should have tied the minnow to the hook, and I think it would have worked real good. I was hoping to get a vid, but the fish got away. LOL!
ive made a couple of hooks from the blackberry thorns, but i dont have much opertunity to fish so....
It bothers me how someone with new shoes can come up to me asking for money.
I have been living off of the grid. honing my survival skills. i just got a better quality camera.... so i hope to make more vids.

Other than using bare hands, angling is probably the most inefficient way to catch fish. If in a true survival situation I would think that some sort of net would be a better method. Or a spear, or redirecting the flow of a small stream and hoping that some small fish are flopping around in the now-dry stream bed. Of course all of these activities are generally illegal, but when trying to really survive laws don't mean much.
I spent several years as a commercial salmon troller (which is angling) and the amount of fish we caught, compared to other methods - mainly gill netting - was woefully small.

I have used traps, arrow traps seem to work the best for me. Place them in current with the arrow pointed down stream to catch fish not paying attention. Point the arrow up stream if you have some kind of bait to place in the trap, offal from any game will draw in the fish, and it is a way to clean the offal if you plan on using it for something else or eating it. Once i had the opportunity to try Goats Rue in a pond that was going to be filled in, it took more than i expected but the effects were undeniable, we had a nice fish fry and the land owner was pleased that the fish did not go to waste. in my survival kits i have a knives with hollow handles that are super easy to make spears with, i really like them. I tried them out after i bought them, during our state gigging season. cold steel makes them, i like the BOWIE BLADE BUSHMAN better because of the width of the blade. http://www.coldsteel.com/bushmanseries.html
great comments, nets can be time consuming to make and the "passer by survivalist" interested in a quick meal needs to be able to catch one or two fish quickly. the grape vine clasper and thorn hook may be a good way to get that job done.

Those old hand cranked Telephones worked good also.
Well, the magnetos anyway. Great for cranking up bait and pretty darned good for shocking fish. Here, hold these wires for a minute while I warm this up. ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!
