Personally, I like irregularities in the steel as long as they don't weaken it.
I had a compass, but without a map, it's just a cool toy to show you where oceans and ice are.

What are you using for a quench medium? Are you pre-heating it? If dissimilar liquids or air bubbles end up in the quench liquid you sometimes get irregular patterns. Don't know how it affect the treatment, but can look kind of cool like yours do.

I just read on a knife making forum recently those patterns are from decarbing.(From getting a little to hot I imagine) No biggy, it will polish out. I think it looks cool personally and try not to polish it out when I get it.

    Oh, nice knife!

I'm Useing Warmed Motor Oil as the Quenching Medium .All I Know Is or What I Think May have Happened I Took apart a Few Of the Knives I Made When I Was Just starting to Make Knives and 1 Knife I Couldn't Get the Copper Pins Out So Not Really thinking I Just Left them In and as you See this Was The End Result.
I'm Also Useing My Redneck Forge Old Small Gass Grill That I Removed the Burner and Connected a Pipe Off Of It for the Air(Hair Dryer).
I'll Try to Replacate It If I Can But Either Way I Like That Way It Came Out and it Just Looks Cool.

Looks good to me. But then character always looks good to me. Good job.
