    Default A Little target practice

    30.06, 168 grain, 2800 fps, 200 yd zero.
    Target 100 yd, Trajectory @ 100 yd +1.9". 5 shots.
Just for fun, 357, 125 grain factory load, 20yd zero.
Target 80 yd, estimated trajectory @ 80 yd -4". 6 shots and only two hits on the left side.
Then campers started moving in that ended the fun.

And yes I put the targets in my garbage can at home.

Target practice is always fun. I'm looking forward to getting back at it.

We shoot on Sunday afternoon, over at a friends house, but for weeks now, the dang wind wants to blow 25 to 30 mph every Sunday. It puts a real damper on things, 'cuz we don't just shoot....we kinda make an afternoon out of it. Kind of a yard party, cooking out, etc.

I have been in your state and I can see your concerns. Now where I go you can see for miles down range and both sides of you without putting anyone at risk and you can see them coming long before they enter a hazardous zone ( alot of people can only see the target and thats it ).
Here is a basic idea with a lone mustang.
I also forgot to mention that the shots was from a prone position, I will only target practice in the prone, sitting, or standing positions.

Did anyone else have a mental picture of "prone" and "sitting" involving a lumpy chair??? LOL

Hey oly, where did you go, if you don't mind me asking? There is a rock quarry south of town that I go to, and most people from our town go there as well. 100 yrds is usually the max there, however.

I enjoy going North of Mercur on 73, but mostly somewhere on the pony exspress beond lookout pass and away from the range cattle.

I perfer staying away from where others go because of the junkyard they leave and the unsafe handling of fireams I have seen (I must quote Hunter63 "Sorry, man but that is just making me shiver........hair standing up... ")

Oly, this is my little home made range, I can back up to 100 yds here, but I will only use it if none of the neighbors are there, just in case.
Target is dug in to the berm a bit and any logs that are too punky to cut into fire wood are piled over the top and sides.

I was trying out the Taurus Circuit Judge at 30 ft at the time this was taken.

If we want to go out farther, we, the neighbor and I move over to his land, we can get about 300+ yds there.
We only use it if we, or all of us are standing there.

Almost every time I have gone to the little gravel pit south of Stockton, no one has been there. But, I hear what you are saying. If you are talking about right off of 73, but just north and west of Mercur, then I have gone there a couple times as well.

Oh the pony express off 73 is a safe zone for ATVs
Here ya go 40.013417, -112.805214 near Simpson springs and it is also a safe zone that is marked, there's some yotes out there and they are pressured and very wise.

You must be going out by Hogan ranch?

Wow, that GPS is way the heck out there. I don't know where Hogan ranch is.
Anyways, if you go East on 73, from 36, the road is almost straight going east. Then, it turns south so as not to run into the mountain. Right around there is where I have gone in the past. Here is the coordinate 40.339982,-112.301871. I don't go near where the pony express meets up with 73. Like you said, it is a no firearms area. The rock quarry is 40.417507,-112.375653.

Yeah, I think the area collects like minded people.....so we have a fairly well armed "neighborhood watch" around there.
