Default Eggs in all forms of cooking

Along with the latest thread on cooking eggs, what other ways of cookings in the bush have you tried?
Encapsulating the egg in mud and placing it in the edge of the coals, rotating till the mud is dried.
Or directly into the embers/ashes just the shell and rotating it continuously.

What found eggs would you eat? just laid? semi formed? just before hatching?

I only pan fry them, but, I'd consider boiling as well.

I'd love to see some other techniques.
I had a compass, but without a map, it's just a cool toy to show you where oceans and ice are.

I often (not nearly enough) will eat raw eggs, or in my favorite meal "Sukiyaki"

    Others have similar tastes?

I've tried the egg in the ashes...and for some reason it always explodes on me. I've tried cooler embers and everything. I eat it anyway...but I feel like I'm wasting food.

Unless you have a light...I don't think you can tell how far along the egg is. If it were semi formed or almost ready to hatch...I think I would feel TERRIBLE after cracking into it...but if I'm hungry enough to be cooking eggs in a fire...I need to eat. Not need to WASTE the poor thing after I cooked it...right?

One word of warning, If cooking an egg in its shell by direct heat(ie not boiling in water) prick the shell, exploded egg don't taste good. And yup I have personal experience!

    OT
Trab, almost every creek on the east coast has crawdads/crayfish. If you find yourself with a nasty meat chunk, toss it in a a creek and wait for those tasty little buggers.

T - you have to poke a tiny hole in the shell to keep it from exploding.

Here's a few ways I've cooked them without using pots/pans
in an orange peel (any citrus fruit works)
    in a hollowed out onion
on a stick (PGV has a tutorial on it)
    on a hot rock
    on a plank
in a volcaniclly heat pool of water (island of Hawaii)
    steamed in banana leaves
    in a coconut shell
in a crab shell/large oyster shell
    over steamed seaweed

When all else fails - raw.

As to the stages of consumption --- if I'm hungry enough ---- any and all. I've eaten more baluts than I care to remember.

When I was a kid, I would cook one in a paper cup with water. I have also cooked one in an onion. I have also scrambled on in a plastic bag and boiled the bag in water for an easy omelet.

Yes it does. Not overpowering, but the flavor is there. It is for this reason that I have never tried a cow patty, but it would probably work.

I threw up a little all the way through this thread. If I cracked an egg and found bird inside I'd just hurl. Not gonna eat a baby bird. Not gonna eat an egg raw either.

    Only fresh!
I would consider eating found eggs, but I would definitely candle them first. The thought of cracking open a half formed chick does not appeal!

I won't disagree with that. I remember growing up we had chickens and fresh eggs, every once in a while, one would have a little extra crunch to it, and it wasn't eggshell.

I like my eggs without grizzle.
