    Default Cod Net

This net is based on cod nets once used in the Northwest US by Native Americans. Tony

The wood is a fast growing weed tree (I believe sumac) that I debarked and bent without steaming.
The frame is 12" x 8". I made the net from linen twine, 20" deep. I got the idea from this Google (free) book.

go to table of contents - to "nets and netting" then to page 88. Tony

I believe I've seen that net before.. You aren't that twiddler from that other primitive school are you?
Nice work on the cod-net. I do wonder tho, just how small of a mesh can be made by hand. Crawfish aplenty here now that we've had all this rain, and a nice hand-made crawdaddy net would be pretty cool.

I have shown this net elsewhere.
You can make the mesh size as large or small as you want. Just vary the size of the gauge you use. Remember that the needle must be narrower than the gauge. I make minnow traps (that also catch crayfish) using a 3/16" gauge. Tony
