Default Boots In The Field Nominations For First Quarter 2011

Boots In The Field Nominations For First Quarter 2011
Nominations for the first Boots In The Field Award are now open. Here's how it will work.

    1. The period for consideration is January 1, 2011 through March 31, 2011. This is not a lifetime achievement award.

    2. You can nominate as many people as you want.

    3. When you nominate somebody, please include a link to the thread(s) that you want them considered on when voting opens.

If you nominate somebody and do not provide a link to the threads, or if the threads are outside the above dates you want them to be considered for, it does not count.

Once somebody has been nominated for a specific thread, do not nominate them again for that same thread. If you want them considered for a different thread, then submit it.

When voting opens (in about a week) the nominees will be listed with a link to all of the threads to be considered.

I wanted to nominate CS for his upside-down shed project (because it was just plain cool) but it looks like he missed it by 59 minutes..http://www.wilderness-survival.net/f...m-the-floor-up! Oh well! I still like the shed!

I was hoping to submit a good one this last three months, but they all turned out not so good. Anyways, YCC did an epic job with his "bees". http://www.wilderness-survival.net/f...00-Oh-beehive! I will be using that as a guide for the next three months and my contributions. Thanks YCC.

I get the honor of making the first place prize this quarter! I posted my "stone knife" a while ago...here is the finished knife and the prize to the winner. I will try to distress the leather when I make the sheath to match the knife. Sorry the pictures are terrible.

Camp, you are real special. You have a sweet personality . I LOVE the knife. Is it distressed steel, or an actual stone? The bevel makes it look like steel.

What he said! It is 1095 steel, the handle is maple. It isnt stabilized because I couldnt get the right look with the hardened wood. It is coated in tung oil though. The sinew is real, it is just for looks though, everything is pinned and glued together. I really like the way this knife looks and feels. It is rough around the edges but the more I finished it, the less I liked it, so I roughed it back up and it really fits the look. I hope the winner enjoys it as much as I liked making it!
