If it's being filmed in Alaska, I'll do it!

    1. If it's in your kit and you don't know how to use it....It's useless.
    2. If you can't reach your kit when you need it....Its useless.

Teaching is a skill as much as bushcraft. You can know the info/skill and not be able to communicate it.

I went through several military survival courses. They have one goal, mission completion. If you die at the instant the mission is completed no big deal. They are not interested in your safe return to civilization, just getting your job done. It is not like on the military channel where recruiting is the goal and troop safty and happoiness a major concern.

I agree with those stating that survival training is very region intensive. It used to irritate me to death, when I was young, that all the survival and wilderness books were geared to the 'big north woods" and used birch bark for every aspect of life. There was not a birch tree within 1,000 miles of my home.

Same with military survival. When I was in all courses were geared for jungle survival, even though we had troops all over the world. I guarentee they are geared for desert survival at this point, as if we will never fight a war anywhere else.

I have worked with several production companies over the years. Most have a preconceived vision of what they want and the interview and search process is simply looking for what they have in mind no matter what the conditions or qualifications. That seems to be what the Dizzy Blondes have in mind.

I am too jaded and cynical to be of any use to them.

I don't understand why they only want males. I have over 20 years of serious survival and training experience and can do anything a male can do - well almost, lol.

I didn't see anywhere that said the person had to be male.
Why do I live in Alaska? Because I can.

I am now getting seriously fatigued with all the experts in "survival" shows currently on, and the potential ones waiting to be started; and I'll bet the same will be true of general public. Unless there's a truly different angle to it, it won't last. At this point, I'd rather watch people (try to make it) who've been chosen by throwing darts at the White Pages.
