    Open phone book
    call drilling company
    have a beer.

    See? It's not so hard.

Yeah, we did my "stock well" (called a stock well for legal reasons) in my bottom field, not far from the river.

Started with a brace and bit, old wood auger bit on a 12 ft extension.

Then a point with pipe, driver cap, and a post hole driver....After a couple of seven foot sections (w/driving unions), the driver was just just bouncing on the pipe, hard pan)

So, as in the old days, (working in factory) had the boys make me a driver from a 4 ft section 6" schedule 80 pipe, (thick wall), with handles and a cap welded on.
To add weight I poured about another 25 pounds of lead in the cap end to add "swat" and cushion the blown on the driver cap.

Worked good, drove down thru hard pan and got good water about 27 ft.
It's pretty heavey, a "two man-er" for sure.
Oh well,.... "If a little does a little good, a lot does a lot of good............."

    Gets borrowed pretty regular.

Find a spring, dig the hole as big as you want your well to be. Want water in the cabon? Git a bucket, drop it in the well, pull it out, lug it inside. If ya wanna run the water inside, lug it faster.

Man oh man oh man. If you had dropped the bucket in gradpa's well you would have been in a world of hurt. Lower the bucket. Do not drop it.

I don't know if he dug it or not. It was there as long as I can remember. Whoever dug it moved some dirt because it was pretty deep.
