Northern Lights!

I've been teaching myself all winter how to photograph the northern lights. It is difficult. Once you finally think you have the correct (manual) settings for your camera, then you have to wait for the lights to come out to test your theory. Tonight we had a geophysical storm and the sky exploded with light. I even was able to get some pinks. Unfortunaly after about half an hour, my fingers start to freeze up and I accidently pushed some button/s while moving the camera and changed 2 of the 3 main settings. So these are the only ones that showed up well enough to bother with.

I'm sad that most of my photos with red didn't show up but there are some at the bottom of this one too. I think this is my favorite.

None of these have been enhanced at all. I've only resized them and slapped my name on the corner. Enjoy.

Those pictures are simply breathtaking! One of my goals in life is to travel northward to see the aurora borealis.

Its an Internet explorer problem I think,,,, I have had people on my forums with the same problem,, they switch browsers and the problem is solved,,

Switch to Firefox or Chrome,, (I recommend Firefox for you,, it works the same as IE)

Great show, and great job with the capture. Don't get to see them much here any more, too much light pollution these days, but remember them from when I was a kid.

Thanks you guys. Those comments made me feel good lol. Tonight the forecast is for a lot of activity again so I have my card cleared off, 2 sets of batteries charged up, my hand warmers ready and just waiting to get these kids to sleep.

SD can you right click them and view? Maybe you have something disabled in IE.
