Default Anyone here near the Westcliffe, CO area?

I'm actually in Colorado Springs. So, if you are in the area - please feel free to say HI!

I am mostly looking for suggestions, ideas, etc for camping, hiking, generally exploring in the area around Westcliffe, Colorado. Say, within an hour's drive, though mostly NOT East (toward Pueblo).

A little about me - I haven't participated much in the forum lately; though I was fairly active a little more than a year ago.

I am ex-military: U.S.A.F. Security Specialist - 4 years. I lived/worked in Yosemite National Park for 4.5 yrs. I'm a long-time outdoors lover; very comfortable in "roughing it" and camping/hiking. I never get lost, I must have a built in compass or something.

Anyways, looking to connect with someone in the area. I have met a couple at the "Wild West Cowboy Church" very briefly, but other than that, I know no one in the area.

    Thanks! David Smith

Oh Westcliff is a gorgeous area, so many big peaks! Get yourself a Colorado Gazetter and have a blast.

We used to live in Douglas County, and one of our sons still lives in Colorado Springs. We went to the Wet Mountains a lot for hunting and just camping out trips. Beautiful country.
Welcome back, hope things are better, for you now.
Wherefore, let us be thankful that there are still thousands of cool, green nooks beside crystal springs, where the weary soul may hide for a time, away from debts, duns and deviltries, and a while commune with nature in her undress. ~ George W. “Nessmuk” Sears ~
