Get a piece of flint about the size you want (Not smaller but bigger is fine) use a chisel, Sharp rock, some kind of tool to shape it and then it should work

When I make flint for rifles, I usually sift through my stash and cut a square piece out of it. I cut it with a pair of tile nippers. Knapping them is not all that hard, a long deertine works well, so does a piece of heavy copper ground rod shoved into the front of a stick.

You can also buy tools specifically for knapping fun flint. All it really is is a piece of copper with a v notch in it. Others use a little flint hammer.

Check out a variety of buckskinning sites, ask about the tool and they will direct you. I just use a deer tine.
