    Ruger model 77 trigger improvement.......options...???
My new "Walk'about" firearm for 2011 should be in at Wild West Guns, next week. Looking for ways (Prefer cheap) to improve the trigger crispness & weight on the Ruger Model# 77/44.

    Thanks for any ideas.

I put a Timney trigger in my M-77 MKII all weather. I don't know if there is a trigger for the 77/44
    I know what hunts you.

Hey, if you see RC at WW, tell him Mike from Broken Stock Gun Shop in Cleveland says hello.

SD, since Ruger actually polishes their trigger sets from the factory, there really is only two things you can do for the trigger. There really is NO need to polish the sear step and release as it is already done. Increasing the striker speed via the Wolff tune up kit will do wonders, takes the striker from 21lbs to about 26-28lbs... any more and you will be piercing the primers. Then replace the trigger spring to take the creep and slack out.

If you want to spend a few bucks, the Timney trigger set will take that gun from mundane to a true crisp and break like glass trigger, it is literally drop in....between the Timney and adding the faster striker spring, your lock time will be the fastest it possibly can be and also the lightest pull and follow through.

The bolt is the best place to do some home gun smithing, goto brownells and get JB Bore bright http://www.brownells.com/1/1/8893-j-...brownells.html

Take your bolt out and heavy like put JB bore bright into the bolt channel and all over the bolt lugs and surface, replace your bolt. Now, for about 40-50 FULL bolt travels, open and close the bolt fully. Now, clean the bolt channel and all areas of the bolt (I use spray carb cleaner with the stock off), lightly lube it and replace. It would not hurt to run some JB down the bore as well a few times.

    1. Replace trigger with a Timney Trigger Set - http://timneytriggers.com/sunshop/in...ct_detail&p=23

    2. Replace the trigger and striker springs with a Wolff tune up kit - http://www.gunsprings.com/Rifles%20%...2/mID52/dID226
