Default READ ME FIRST: Video Posting Rules/Instructions

    Rules

    1. Use the new youtube BB code to add your videos. You will want to take the video id from the URL like so: http://youtube.com/watch?v=JFwCCL0Vh6U and place it between youtube tags such as:

    Code:
    |youtube|xxxxxx|/youtube|
Replacing the | with appropriate []'s.

    2. Please use a descriptive title as the thread title explaining what the video is.

    3. Failure to abide by these guildelines can result in the removal of your permission to post videos here.

    4. Only post instructional videos or review videos. Videos showing neat things, editorial videos, personal videos, these need not be posted. If your video is not teaching how to do something, or reviewing and demonstrating a product, please, don't post it here.

    5. PREVIEW YOUR POST before posting it. There are many ways to mess up when copying over the embed code, a preview takes only a second and it makes sure you do it right.

    6. Please rate threads in this forum as a rating for the video, this will allow us to identify the best videos posted for featuring.

    7. ONLY POST VIDEOS YOU HAVE DONE. DON'T POST THIRD PARTY VIDEOS.

    Why post videos here?

This will create a central respository for videos, which will allow users seeking video content to easily find it.

Additionally I will in the future integrate the video list created here with the main site, featuring videos on every page of the site. Giving you far more exposure for your videos, making you a youtube star! It will be very cool.

    Really awesome! Thanks Chris!!

The benefit is twofold because it helps the video maker and will bring folks to the forum when they find the video in a search.

Phil - those are the rules for this section only. Your vid is fine where it is.

I went to put back the video and it seems that embedded videos are only allowed in the instructional thread. (????)

    Default Chicken and the Egg

    OH I get it...

I can only put instructional videos in the instructional thread.

I can put other videos, of a non-instructional nature in other threads. (like where my video was originally) BUT! They will not work because that feature is now turned off in all other threads but the instructional thread.

Thank You for the offer anyway.

This may seem a bit of a run around to some people but I did serve ten years in the Marines. Having the higher echelon give the men in the trenches the run around was a common thing.

only use the v="soandso" part in between your youtube tags. videos are working for me in non-instructional threads. I'm not sure I understand the issue?

I'm not sure what's going on. When I tried to put back the video I took off, it wouldn't work.

Then today I read this post from Crash on Pocco's horse thread.

"Poco - the embed feature for YouTube vids is only turned on in the instructional video section."

Phil - You can post a link to a youtube video anywhere on the forum - same as always. Just copy and paste the entire link.

The point and purpose of this sub-forum is for instructional videos. Chris has set the guidelines in the OP of this thread. In this sub-forum only (for now) you can embed your video.

For me - when I'm able to start making vids again, I'll probably post a copy here (embeded) and another copy (linked, not embeded) in the appropriate sub-forum.

Phil your video is now working in your Cold On Lake Erie thread. Remember - outside of the instructional video section you must provide an entire link to your video for it to work.

Thanks Crash, I'm sorry for giving you a hard time. I've been overwhelmed with work lately and a bit quick to react to things. Happy New Year to you and your family.

Hey, did I do my video correctly? All I did was paste the video URL in the line that comes up when I click the little "insert video" icon. I didn't write any code.
