Default Little cabin in the woods, north of Fairbanks, AK.

    Yep that's me.

Ok let's see, 44 year old woman with a 12 year old son and a 9 year old daughter. The three of us live in a dry cabin in the woods just north of Fairbanks, Alaska. The link that was posted here to my blog about my Alaskan adventures is what brought me here.

I'm a doula (childbirth professional), a mushing tour guide, a henna artist (and will be going back to having a "real job" in the spring.

Was in the Reserves but also spent a few years on special tours of duty, petroleum supply.

I'm a back packer and a great shot. I spend as much time in the wilderness as I can. I've been on multi day back packing trips and multi day dog mushing trips. It's about all I can pull off right now until my kids are older. Then they can come with me!

Looking forward to getting to know you all as you seem like a friendly bunch of people.

The Alaskan mindset is a wonderful and refreshing thing. Here is a woman that lives in a cabin 30 miles north of the middle of no-where that claims to "spend as much time in the wilderness as I can". While 99% of the people on the internet consider spending an afternoon on a hiking trail in the city park really "getting away from it all".

    I love this forum!

Welcome, from the wilds of KY.

Yep they sure do. We normally go to it every year. Then we stop by and get a shake at McDonalds (bleck) and go take our picture in front of the University time and temp clock. Next year however I might go up to a place that you can watch the sun go around in a circle instead of setting for a few hours.

I saw that Dogman. I noticed your avatar because we have this race here that is a commemorative of the founding of our hot springs nearby. So all the mushers, sleds, gear, etc. have to be dressed as the early 1900s. I was trying to talk my friend in going as Yukon Cornelius and the Abomidable snow man instead of just frontier women. She wouldn't go for it but I thought it would be great fun.

Cool. I love the Yellowstone area. How many dogs do you have? We have almost 50 but about a dozen of those are living out their last days happily in the "geriatric" portion of the dog yard.

    Welcome from this Southeaster.
I had a compass, but without a map, it's just a cool toy to show you where oceans and ice are.
