Default hello from central shenandoah valley

Was a lurker then joined so I could see pictures. Am a Vietnam Veteran Widow, always learning and in my 60's. I love the outdoors and camping. Cooking over an open fire - well, there is nothing like it! Car camping to California and back, to South Dakota and back highlight of my life. Planning trip in 2011 or 12 to great northwest. I now have three sons in law, all builders, hunters, fishermen, mechanics. Love to learn very basic old time ways. Collected pine sap. Could not find the fungus for torch or stove two summers, but might have found some. Have learned a ton from all of you and feel prepared in most ways for whatever comes. Am most interested in saving my family and teaching them things. Teaching canning now. Built a nice red clay oven and used it years until moved. Good animals here - bears a nuisance but so majestic to see. White skunks are numerous and deer. Will peruse deer recipes - good hunting this year for the boys. Gitaway

Welcome to the forums gitaway. I'm very interested in this red clay stove, if you'd like to tell about the process. I'm learning pottery and was thinking of making a clay kiln. I could use all the help I can get!
Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing. Helen Keller
