    Default 1st try at micarta

Well my third, first 2 didn't get the mix right for reasons I won't bore you with.

I made the blade out of the hot rolled steel everyone said I shouldn't use, but hey, I'm still just playing around on this end.

The fit of the handle/guard looks fantastic in the picture and I like the blade shape as well. I've never tried shaping antler like that, well done!

That looks great Ted. I wish I had thought to make micarta back when i had a gallon and a half of west systems just expiring away.

Looks like some fine work to me ted. It might not stay as sharp as long, but I'm betting it'll do just what it's supposed to do... take general abuse. I really like the antler guard. integrating organic parts into the project really sets it off. I love it! Keep it up!

We makers are very hard on ourselves while others see the object as perfect. I think you have done well and so bask in the glory that is given. Good job!

Going to add another good job Ted. No matter what the steel is, it's a good lookin knife and looks to be one that can be used. So what if ya have to sharpen it bit more often. Btw. Is not survival most times using what you have on hand? Not always going out and spending alot of money. The micarta looks good to me.

You did a great job! I really like the antler guard and the blade shape. Is that a Ted original idea for the guard?
