I have some old hunter-trapper-trader and fur-fish-game magazines that have some photos of those old line cabins.some of the old books published by fur-fish-game has photos of "smoke holes".

Idaho was a very productive gold mining state. When I'm out scouting for, or hunting elk and deer, it is not unusual to find old prospectors' falling down log cabins. A couple of times, i've used them for shelter when I stayed out for the night. Beats sleeping in the wind.
