Once in a while things work out, Savage M24

So the stars lined up, and out of the blue, I found a Savage M 24, .22 mag/20 ga.
Decent price, very good condition, I'm a happy guy....one more crossed off the "All time wanted list". I don't collect buckets.

So have been doing a little "personalizing".

Added sling, and today had DW dig out her sewing machine, and stitched on a elastic shell holder for the .22 mag's, as well as the 20 ga. (yeah I lazed out and had her do the stitching)

Still want to add a reciever sight, found one at Williems Gun Sight Company for the M24.

Some guys have all the luck. In .22 mag and 20 gauge no less. Sweeeeet. I'm glad you got it. When you get old and feeble and no longer have the strength to pull back the hammer I'll take it off your hands.

Great find Hunter, congratulations! I have the 24 in .22 lr over 20 gauge, but I still want a 24 in .22 mag over either a 20 or a 12 gauge.

I figured it would make a good complement to the Ruger Single Six in .22 mag.

Like I said, every once in a while stuff works out.
And I have to say, networking does help.

I would love to have a .357/20 but I never expect to find one and doubt I would pay what it would bring.

Stand back. The karaoke machine has an honored placed on the forum. It's one of the few modern gizmos real mountain men have embraced. If you've never seen a half dozen grizzled old mountain men doing karaoke to "Wake Me Up Before You Go Go" then you haven't really lived.

Have seen a 30-30 over a 12 ga, but not lately.
Seems these types of of combo are getting few and far in between.

Looked at a used German made 16 ga over a 7mm something or other at or Gander Mountain, was a trade in.
Was "On sale" for $2500 bucks, so I offered them a $1000 figuring t5hat they might just bite to get rid of this oddball. No deal.

If you really want to get nuts, there is also a three barreled "Drilling" out there, have seen pic's and wet myself every time the guy post pic's.

It is a 12 ga double with a 30 cal rifle barrel under and in between the SS barrels.
Guy had an insert barrel for .22 lr, fits in the right SS barrel.

Yes, the karaoke machine gets dragged out when partying with modern out door types (Modern camping, see,.... I'm not just a pretty face).

My favorite is "Paradise by the Dashboard Lights" by Meat Loaf, sorta of a duet with side girls. Willie Nelson is close behind.
Just goes to show that "alcohol and enthusiasm" always over comes "talent and good sense".

Good idea moving the lava lamp down to the basement shop (for you younger guys, Man cave).
I like having the TV, stereo, and mini fridge handy for those long winter and rainy days.
Would have to dust off the sawdust, from the powder tools, off the lava lamp, though.

Well, there I was, at "The Place", had to run into town to use the free WiFi, ended up getting an email, from a friend, letting me know that he just happened to have a Model 24 for sale.

As I don't happen to check e-mails but once a week, and it was already a couple of days old, I was afraid he would think I wasn't interested,... story of my life, day late... dollar short.

Well, like I said, every once in a while, the stars line up, things work out.
So I just sent a quick email back, just saying "Sold" with a phone number that I can be reached when out and about.

The rest is history........

Sweet. Nice find. I just got my Camper's Special and am loving it. I saw one just like yours last weekend, but in .22LR/20ga. I may get it, if he still has it when I have some cash. I like the thumb break lever, as opposed to the tang break lever. I have been keeping an eye out for one with the break lever on the front of the trigger guard. Has a 12ga single like that. Really handy.

I need to take my .30/30 over 20ga out tomorrow. Deer season starts the second and I want to make sure my handloads still work.

Yes, I like what you have done. You will give it a better home than I did.

Once caution about putting receiver sights on a M24: make sure it does not interfere with the barrel selector on the hammer.

I have such a receiver sight on my full-sized M24. The peep sight aperture interferes with the barrel selector. Thus I am compelled to use the sight without the aperture.

For wing shooting, that is a good thing. And I do not miss it for .22 shooting.
But some people might. (Personal choice)

On my Camper's Companion, I opted for a barrel-mounted fold-down sight instead. I still get all the adjustment I need for windage and elevation, but the hammer is not "crowded" by the sight.

I saw one a couple weeks ago, at a gun show. The one I saw was 30-30 and I can't remember if it was 20ga, or 12 ga. If I run across that one again, what would be a bargain price??? (I have no idea what they sell for.)

Bepending on condition, $300 to $500 I would guess, least that what I have been seeing on pricing.

Most of the ones I have seem lately had been .22lr over .410, about $350.

Just picked another one up in .22mag over 20ga. A bit beat-up, but shoots well. I will try and post pics later.
