    Default Latest Knife Experiment

I wanted a tough, carbon steel blade with a saw back that worked. I tried my hand at a protective finish as well. Don't care too much how the finish turned out, but this is one tough little hombre.

What was it before it became a knife ?

It doesn't actually look that bad at all.

That's a cool little knife. Nothing wrong with the finish at all. (the coating, not the people. But they're okay, too).

I was hoping that the close up would be a little better. Was going to have a little fun with the "illusion" of a larger knife. I've made quite a few of the hacksaw blade knives. with the Grizzly Belt Sander it only takes a few minutes to make one that is sharp enough to shave with.

At first I thought it was a meat saw or similar blade from the first picture.

Sweet looking tool. I can think of at least a couple uses for such a knife. How much you asking for one? I'd sure like to add one to my kit, or even build one myself if it doesn't require a lot of tools. Most of my tools are for woodworking.
Looks like a great idea to me. Can't wait to see one finished!

If you've got a bench grinder or a small belt sander you should make one. You'll be suprised at how easy they are to make. Just grind away the stuff that doesn't look like a knife.

I have one of those grinder wheel things.. we use it for heavy stuff tho.. lawnmower blades, axes, etc. Not sure I want to stick a hacksaw blade anywhere near it (I like having 10 fingers).
I think I'll leave the knifing to the pro's and keep banging rocks and rubbing sticks.
