I'd wish you luck, but I don't think you need it. Instead I'll say Good Decision, and stick to it. You know you have a large support group here. We can't do all the exercises with you, but if you need ideas, or just a vote of confidence, you know you can call on us.
Good job. If I have one recommendation, though, set your goal much lower.. like 10 lbs. That way you have shorter gaps between "progress" and you can keep a much better outlook.
Have you figured out your plan of attack yet? protein shakes and raw eggs? yoga? Kama Sutra?

    Crash,

Good on you! I'm going to join you.

Before we came to Brazil (99) I had been travelling for two years raising support, eating out alot and eating in peoples homes I got up to my lifetime high of 225. Brazil is very good to me weight wise and after being here a year I was down to 205, but very out of shape.

Back in 2003 I got real serious about my condition and joined a gym. After a year of that I was up to five days a week for 1.5 hours. I was down to a very solid 185 and felt fantastic.

    Some milestones:

I was headed out for a four day trip and stepped on the scale to weight my pack. The pack weighed 26 pounds but the scale read my former weight. I can't tell you how cool it was to set that pack down and realize I had been carrying it for years.

I had to take the bus home from church down town. I had to switch to a different bus halfway and got off at the wrong stop. My actual stop was three blocks away and since it was very late with few busses running I was in danger of missing the bus. I sprinted the three blocks. I arrived at the stop, took two deep breaths and felt totally normal. A year before I would have been puking.

I said all that to say this, I weigh 205 pounds right now and need to get serious again. I'm 44, it ain't going to happen on its own.

I took this shot a few years ago out the bedroom window. Toucans are really neat birds they make this funny craaak-craaak-craaak sound. They fly straight as an arrow but can make right angle turns in the air. They just point that beak in a new direction and turn on a dime. Mac

Good Luck, I have held 200+ or - 10lbs for twenty years but like Rick said, guess I cut out on too many poles and shrunk some. When I retired in '96 I had to cut back on the chow. I think you can make it, and I understand the knees well, occupational hazard for me.

I have a confession. In Jan I hit 60 and I have given up.

I have had weight issues all my life. Not obese, just too heavy. I have fought to be what some skinny jerk said I should weigh for 50 of my 60 years. I have come to the conclusiion that TRYING to control my weight puts so much stress on me it keeps my blood preasure elevated.

Then there was the heart attack. That came during one of the skinny periods. Should not have happened! Just had a checkup and the Doc bragged on me for all the weight loss, stopped smoking, and good habits!!

BAMM!!! Three stints and four baloons and 6 days in CIC. Heart not working on its own for 3 days.

Then they blind sided me. The meds.

Every med they put me on had the side effect of weight gain. Here they were giving me meds that crashed my metabolism and telling me I was gaining weight due to over eating. I was gaining weight on a 1,000 calorie a day diet.

Final straw was when the 5'2", 250 lb nurse told me the problem was my lack of strigent heart healthy eating habits.

My present to me for my 60th birthday was that I finaml gave myself permission to not give a $&!* what the height weight or body mass index chart says.

Guess what! I have lost 10 pounds since my birthday. BP is back to normal.
If you didn't bring jerky what did I just eat?

Way to go kyrat!!! However you get there is a good thing.
Your story reminds me of what some couples go through trying to get pregnant. After all the stress, expense, side effects and no results, they give up. They finally relax. Get their life back. They decide to adopt. Then they get pregnant and have a baby.

If you feel good and can do what matters to you then who cares what the charts say? The charts tell me I should weigh 170 IIRC. I haven't weighed that since 9th grade! I ran on the treadmill like a freakin' gerbil for a year and couldn't get below 185. I had a six pack...still buried under a slab of bacon but I felt great.

It's not just women that get sucked into the body image thing. I came to the conclusion that I have enough abs to keep my guts from falling out and that's their job. I'm going to the bush for two days. I know that when I'm in better shape I enjoy it more and that's what it's all about.

Wow, Crash, you weigh almost double what I do.

Good luck, buddy! It's the late night snacks that'll kill ya'.

Remember I dropped 30 lbs. earlier this year? I've only gained 2 of them back. A few suggestions:

    Oatmeal

    Blueberries

    Salmon

    Hard Boiled Eggs

    A few Almonds each day

Yogurt - or at least two servings of dairy (not cheese) each day

High Fiber V-8 juice. Fiber is critical.

    V-8 Fusion Light

Take a good multi-vitamin every day.

Pig out one day - BUT ONLY ONE DAY - a week, but not more than you do now. If you don't, you will be miserable and walk away from any diet within a couple of weeks.

Eat a 500 calorie breakfast, even if you normally don't eat in the morning.

No snacking 3 hours before bed.

.........and exercise every morning to get that metabolism cranked up for the day.

I know you can do it!
