I watched this on CBS last night. Some gal had lived in the U.S. for 15 years illegally. Still couldn't speak English!!!!!! What's up with that? Moaning that she couldn't get work and was moving to Colorado.

Go back and check my earlier post. I said Arizona did this for two reasons. 1. To gain national attention to their problem (check) and 2. To get the illegals to go somewhere else (check).

Sorry kids, I have no sympathy for you if you break the law...and don't bother to learn the language in 15 years.

Their 10 children were born here and are U.S. citizens. Both she and her husband are undocumented, and currently unemployed.

I think we are attacking the problem in the wrong way. Perhaps the Border Patrol should welcome aliens into the country. Meet them at the border as they cross and hand them one of these...

I hope they don't relocate to South Texas. We got a bad enough problem down here as it is. Folks like her landlord are part of the problem as well.

This law is nothing but a duplicate of the Fed law, but it can be enforced by any LE in the state. And several states are pushing for the same thing.

I really love to hear the ignorance of the "talking heads" on this issue.

"It is now a crime to be an illigal alien!"

Does that mean that breaking Fed law is not a crime and enforcement of the law is unjust?

We fought a war over this crap in 1848, sent troops into Mexico for the exact same problems in 1916. That border should have been secured 75 years ago.

As far as lawsuits go, states are under a constant legal barrage, it might as well be for something that counts, like protection of the borders, a responsibility the Fed is ignoring.

Last I heard, 8 or 9 states are actively working on similar laws.

Neighboring states are worried about it, for the reasons that pancho stated. (IMO)

They would not be in the USA in such numbers if people and businesses were not hiring them. I say, hit these businesses and people hard - very hard - with massive fines for hiring illegal aliens. You would then see the number drop.

Don't really know about this area. I grew up across the river, was gone 20yrs, moved back and 30yrs later I am finally being accepted as "one of them". Don't think a mass exodus to Eastern KY or Southern WV is in the works either.

Arresting the aliens is like hacking at the branches of a tree - does not do much good. You have to get the roots in order to kill it.

And the root cause is plain and simple: Americans are hiring illegal aliens because they do not have to pay them as much and do not have to provide any benefits.

Stop hiring aliens and they will not come here! If we need someone to blame, blame the employers.
