We have ridiculous laws here, too. For example, if we dig a well, we have to put a meter on in and pay the water company for the use.

It was probably the water company that paid off your government to make that law.....am i right?

Colorado is where the water rights issues began over 100 years ago. It is very complicated and made sense to someone at sometime. But to a newcomer, it is frustrating and confusing.

Oh yeah!!! Been here a little over three years and still don't comprehend all the nonsense. All that's been said about CO water law is true and worse. Thought about adding an ag well on the ranch; given up for now.
