    Default The %$@#* Flu

Well I went and got myself a case of seasonal flu from a coworker. She got so sick she had to quit. I took one day off to get past the contagious phase and went back at it. I'm blessed that it wasn't 2010 H1N1 but it was a potent seasonal strain. I'm asymptomatic now except my lungs still have remnents of the excess phlegm that made me feel like I was drowning. I am coughing with ferocity rid myself of the yuckum. I was wondering what it would be like to deal with a fierce strain of the flu in the bush. Having it at home with OTC meds and herbal remedies at hand was pretty rough. I think it would have been totally hellish under field conditions. What do you think?

Oh yeah. You mean like taking your sons and nephews skiing in Vermont and enjoying a real bad case of the flu from the top of the mountain?

I think you are right HA, but chances of contracting it if you are having no, or limited human interation are probably diminished.

    Congrats on finding work.

That's probably what the guy skiing behind you was saying too.

Good news about the job, bad news about the flu! Hope you're feeling better.

It's temp work,5 weeks, leads to another temp that may be 4 months. I'm also reapplying for a manager job I had last Summer. The District Guy that fired me got fired himself. So I asked his replacement if I was eligible for rehire considering the bogus reason I got fired. If I get the managerial position I'll work both that and the temp job, until the temp job evaporates. Save up some cash against the future.

Congrats!!! on the job. It takes about a week for the flu to manifest symptoms. So it's entirely possible you could resupply yourself, contract the flu and then find yourself in the bush in a bad way. You just do what you have to do I guess. Unless you contract some secondary illness such as pneumonia it shouldn't kill you. You'd probably be pretty danged miserable for a few days. The good news is if you treat it you'll be over it in seven days. If you don't do anything it will take a week.

Have you ever done that Sourdough? Have you ever had the flu while out on a hunting party?

Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing. Helen Keller

Sourdough? Yeah, last time he went out hunting, he was looking for the leader of a pack of wolves.

Sourdough, you've gotta' be one of the most decent and honorable guys I've ever "met."

But THE RULES say I can't give you anymore rep at this time.

Thanks! He just got a double from me. Gotta' "adjust" the playing field, that's all. Kinda' like a courtroom.

I can't think of anything I've done for this forum or the folks that haunt it that would be worth such a gracious gift. I'm honored.
