Any Historical Trekkers/Re-enactors

We got all kinds here and that's what I love about this forum, survivalist, hikers, hunters, fishermen, campers, primitives, Live off the Landers, off roaders, heck we even got gold prospectors and a guide service, etc, etc... do we have any historical trekkers or re-enactors?

Yes I do rendezvous. Fur trade era.

Not a re-enactor, but I do wear buckskins in the woods for hog and small game, hunt with muzzleloaders and selfbows, make my own gear, start fires with flint and steel, carry a bowie, throw pointy knives and hawks, and make as many rendezvous as possible.

I guess, yeh.

I got a lot of the Colonial 1760s French & Indian War (my favorite time period) re-enactors in this area wanting me to join and help teach living history, the French/Canadian are the most friendly of the bunch and alot in this area have asked me to join and they do alot of the French Militia and Voyager persona, the colonial americans and british guys seem a bit clickish. The Treks are pretty interesting and they go on some long ones (a week or more twice year) and even do a canoe voyage expedition. Still thinking on it though.

I've done a little with the Ga. COHT; org. two hog hunts, rendezvous at my houts, made the museum openings, the Christmas outings, etc. Had alot of fun, but they do the re-enacting and that just is not my thing.

I still try to get to their hooyah get togethers, when I can. After 911, rendezvous, prim. archery events and the like have drastically diminished. We always talk on the hist. sites that "Rendezvous will shine again."

I never considered it to be a hobby, but rather, that is the way I am. This statement ticked alot of trekkers off as they took it the wrong way.

This is who I am, a primitive kind of guy. I like the basics, but the basics take more work. I like work, hard work, the harder the better.

Sometimes I will wonder off into the woods, cammy trousers, French Can. knee mocs, and buckskin jacket. Kind of a mix. But, I will never, ever, ever, wear buckskin in the woods during deer season, I want to live to be an old man.

Good for you! That's pretty cool. You have to be true to yourself first or you can't be true to anyone. That's a pretty sweat setup in pic 2.

No.2 setup was kind of cool. You can't tell, but it rained for three nights at this rendezvous. Surprisingly, I was high, dry, and very warm. I build a wall on the far side of the fire to direct the heat into my area. I stacked wood just in arms reach and if I felt a chill, threw another log on the fire.
