Rather than sitting there and looking at four walls you get to watch nature as you do your duty. Especially at night, sitting there and watching stars or the Northern Lights. What better way to do your thing? Of course once in awhile you would be sitting there and a plane flies over and everyone checks you out. So, you just wave.

I'd just be worried about freezing stuck to something in there.

If I travel four miles down the lake and cross the lake, there is a road about 16 miles long to a Native village. Other than that it's about 200 miles by air to the nearest city that has a few roads.

Just in case anyone is wondering, that is me taken back in the early 90's when I use to stay down on the Alaska Peninsula up in the mountains about 40 miles south of Ugashik. I had a cabin close to Mother Goose Lake.

yeah FL is unusually cold. I tried to get the wife and kids to do a rough camp trip when it was in the mid 30's and I got over ruled. I thought it would be a good test. They thought I was crazy. Hope it will stay warm when its time to bug. Maybe I should consider a BOL closer to the equator. Need large boat in BOB how will I carry that?

Don't mean to pry, but what made you decide to go that route?

As a kid this is how I grew up. We lived in a cabin and my dad use to haul wood, ice and water not to mention whatever else needed hauling by horse and sled. So, I pretty much carried on from there with the exception of a 6 year stint in Nam followed by trying to live on the road system, which didn't work out so well. Had a hard time keeping a job because, it just wasn't in me to have someone else running my life.

Wow, I guided out of Volcano Creek, Figure Eight Creek, Wide Bay, and Dog Salmon River, for several years. We mailed Tons of our supplies to Ugashik.

I've kind of been all around. Too many people think driving around on the road system is exploring Alaska and in a small way it is. But, you have too travel to the out of the way places too really experience it. Have you ever fished Painter Creek at the confluence of the King Salmon River? That is a great spot.
