Hunter did you make That file knife ?
Hunter did you make That file knife ?
I Wonder Who was the first person to look at a cow and say, "I think I'll squeeze these dangly things here, and drink what ever comes out?"
Yeah, I did, made a few back when, back in a previous life, in a wire rope factory.
We had a lead bath furnace for heat treating wire, we called it "Patenting", so I made a couple useing a carbide stone then patented then at 875 degrees.
This is about 25 years old, has a hammer handle grip, poured babbitt end and a copper hilt.
Some times I miss the Gov-ment jobs,(projects) in the shop, then again sometime I don't miss that factory at all.
Should have been there when I first started a fire with flint and steel, using charcloth on the work bench......Lucky the sprinklers didn't go off.

Here are a few made from old carbon steel Chefs knives, New handles, New shape.
RWB, very nice.
I find it intresting that your showing one w/ the muzzle-loader, as that is probaly more realistic than a lot of styles portrayed with mountain men.

Thanks Guys, Just hate to waste anything. My wife calls me a pack rat.
Hunter, that one you say looks like a bayonet I do believe it just might be a WWI trench knife.
Don't pick a fight with an old man. If he's too old
to fight... he'll just kill you.
I don't know, maybe, but I don't think WWI, it doesn't have any attachments for a mount, for use as a bayonet.
It does say GO CO Japan, or maybe CO CO Japan,on the blade near the hilt? But hard to read.
Kind of a mystery, I don't even remember where I got it.
